Church History

Each year, Church Triumphant conducts a "Reducing the Risk Volunteer Training."

The purpose of this course is to establish the need for a child sexual abuse prevention program, and to develop policy and procedures which will greatly reduce the likelihood of child sexual abuse.  The goal of the "reducing the risk" policy is to provide a safe and secure environment for the children who are entrusted to our church, and in seeking to accomplish this objective, to reduce the legal risk and liability exposure.

1.  Adults who have been convicted of either child sexual or physical abuse should not volunteer service in any church sponsored activity or program for children or youth.

2.  Adult survivors of childhood sexual or physical abuse need the love and acceptance of this church family.  Individuals who have such a history should discuss their desire to work with children or youth with one of the pastoral staff prior to engaging in any volunteer service.

3.  All adult volunteers working with youth or children are required to be members of Church Triumphant for a minimum of three to six months, or in consistent attendance at CT for this length of time.

4.  Adult volunteers should observe all of the church policies stated in the "Reducing the Risk" training materials and, including the 'two adult rule' which requires that adults are never alone with children or youth without an adult partner.  In some instances, an adult may have an approved helper who is under the age of 21 who has been through the application, screening, and training process.

5.  Adult volunteers should immediately report any behaviors which seem abusive or inappropriate to their supervisor.

"Reducing the Risk Volunteer Training" includes indepth instruction and discussion on the following topics:

All volunteers wishing to participate in church sponsored activities must first submit a "Volunteer Application" which includes the following release statement:

"The information contained in this application is correct to the best of my knowledge.  I authorize all church and personal references to release any information that they may have regarding my character and fitness for this ministry's work.  I release all such references from any liability for furnishing such evaluations to you, provided they do so in good faith and without malice.  I also understand that a background check may be conducted by the church office, therefore, I release the use of my Social Security and Driver's License numbers for the sole purpose of this background check.  Should my application be accepted, I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and policies of Church Triumphant and to refrain from unscriptural conduct in the performances of my services on behalf of the church."

Secondly, an "Authorization for Release of Information" form will be submitted to the Department of Public Safety of New Mexico for a background check.
